About the author

Karyn O’Beirne is an MBA graduate and Financial Systems consultant.  Having worked in New York metro area for over twenty years, she enjoys the energy and diversity that NYC offers.  Experiential workshops, dinners out and strolling the nooks and crannies of Manhattan are favorite pastimes in the Spring and Fall.  Summertime however belongs to Long Island and its ocean beaches.  After getting the vegetable and herb gardens underway Karyn enjoys the more relaxed pace the season offers.

Karyn became a worship leader in 2002 and is currently the Worship committee chairwoman at her local congregation.  She is also the treasurer of the Long Island Area Council for Unitarian Universalist congregations.  Karyn leads Sunday services at least once a month on the South Shore where she lives with her husband and two sons.  When not working or involved in congregational life, Karyn works on her second book which chronicles further explorations into the accessible, divine nature of life.

“As my spiritual journey unfolded and as I used my growing awareness to bear witness to the events and emotions that shaped my existence, I felt an undeniable need to write, and ultimately share, what I had found.  How did I go from agnosticism to God awareness in a few years time?  How did I rediscover what I truly love to do?  How did I come to participate in the joy of creating the conscious awareness that is my life?  How did I encounter and live the ultimate truth that life is?”

The answers and more are in the story that became Findings from the Hunting Party’s Scout.  I tried to select only those moments, adventures and dreams that spoke of a larger truth.  In the beginning, taking on the task of writing a book felt like an obsession, otherwise I never would have attempted to step out of my comfortable, anonymous New York suburban background, to bring my story to print.  By the second year, the obsession gave way to love and compassion — love for what I have come to know and experience, and compassion for anyone who may be struggling with the sparse and innocuous spiritual landscape we have been confined to within our western consumer culture.  With this book I hope to stir intent in you, the reader, to create your story, your journey, so that you come to embrace a spiritual existence with the same assurance you live your physical life.
